What’s going on in the MLB?

After the Angels signed both Albert Pujols and CJ Wilson, there has not been much going on in Major League Baseball.  There is only a month and a half left until pitchers and catchers return to their spring training destination.  February 18th is the first day that players can report.  There is such a sort break between the World Series and Spring Training.

The big free agent that is still available remains Prince Fielder.  He is asking for a contract similar to Albert Pujols, but all the teams that are interested in the big man don’t seem to have the money to spend.  What is wrong with a 5 year $150 million dollar contract?  One of the team that Fielder has been linked to remains the Washington Nationals.  The Nationals are a young up and coming team and Fielder would be a great fit for this team.  With Stephen Strasburg expected to be in the bigs all year after recovering from Tommy John surgery, this team can be good for the next 10 years.  Add Prince to the mix and he will make them better immediately.

Hanley Ramirez now seems to be fine with a move to third base after the Marlins signed former Mets shortstop Jose Reyes.  The Marlins left side of the infield may now be the most athletic and best left side in the game taking over Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez.  The Oakland A’s seem to be rebuilding.  Wait.  Haven’t the A’s been rebuilding for the past 8 years or so?  Get rid of Trevor Cahill, Andrew Bailey, and Craig Breslow, and do not resign Josh Willingham or David DeJesus.  Billy Beane must have something under his sleeve.  Now Coco Crisp has a new team?  We just do not know it yet.  Coco Crisp can still play center field for a big league team and score you 80 plus runs.
